Account Deletion
App: Family Diaries (com.harunaybi.familyDiaries) · Last updated: August 25, 2026
This page explains how to delete your Family Diaries account and its associated data. You do not need to install the app or sign in to this page to request deletion.
1. Deleting from within the app
You can delete your account directly in the app:
- Open the app and tap your profile photo in the top right (or the circle showing your initial if you have no photo).
- Tap "Delete My Account" at the bottom of the screen.
- Read and confirm the warning.
- You are asked to re-authenticate with your sign-in provider (Google or Apple) so we can confirm the account is yours.
Deletion begins immediately once re-authentication succeeds.
2. Requesting by email
If you cannot access the app or cannot complete deletion inside it, you may send a request by email:
Email: harun.aybi99@gmail.com
Please send the request from the email address your account uses. Once your identity is verified, the request is completed within 30 days at the latest.
3. Data that is deleted
When you delete your account, the following is permanently deleted:
- Your account record, including your name and email address
- Your profile photo
- The fridge notes you wrote
- Your status updates
- The device token stored for delivering notifications
- Your identity record in Firebase Authentication
Your poll votes are withdrawn from the vote lists.
4. Data that remains with the family
Shared family content — such as shopping list items, calendar events, and notes written by someone else that you edited — remains for the other family members. Deleting it would remove the family's shared records rather than your personal data.
Your identity is unlinked from that content: your name is replaced with "Departed Member".
If you are the family admin and other members remain, admin rights are transferred to one of them. If you are the last member of the family, all of that family's content is permanently deleted.
5. Retention
Once deletion completes, your data is not retained in our systems. Records in backups, if any exist, are purged within the backup cycle, no later than 30 days.
6. Leaving a family without deleting your account
If you do not want to delete your account entirely, you can leave your current family and then create a new family or join another one with the same account. Your account record, profile photo, and sign-in provider connection are kept.
See section 8 of the Privacy Policy for details.
